Here at secondhandcamera.co.uk, we help you buy and sell second hand cameras and used camera equipment. But it is very important to note that all we do is let you advertise. We are not responsible for anything after that point, but we do want you to be safe buying and selling. So this article is all about the do's and don'ts when it comes to buying and selling stuff online.
One of the reasons why we put this site together is because PayPal are now offering the same buyer protection scheme that they offer to ebay customers to all other customers who use PayPal to buy products online. Paypal state:
PayPal has 2 programmes to help protect you:
- PayPal Buyer Protection (for eligible items purchased via your PayPal Account and either: (i) made on eBay; or (ii) funded by PayPal Credit and purchased on or off eBay). For the avoidance of doubt, PayPal Credit does not include any credit card other than the PayPal Mastercard.
- PayPal Buyer Complaint Policy (for all other items purchased using PayPal on or off eBay). (together, referred to as “PayPal’s protection for buyers”).
Please note that PayPal’s protection for buyers only applies if you use your PayPal Account to make a purchase.
So our first recommended reading is to look at this on the PayPal website.
The next thing to check out is the Buying Safely on eBay page which is a tutorial that will show you:
The basics of buying safely — what you should look for before you bid or buy, and the safest ways to pay for your purchases.
Common buying mistakes that increase risks, and how you can easily avoid them!
Buying safely is easy when you understand the basics. This tutorial has 10 questions, and should take 15-20 minutes to complete.
When you're done, you should have a much better idea how to evaluate listings, how to buy safely on eBay, and the protections you have as a buyer.
Next we visit the Government Consumer Direct website which has some useful information about things to consider "before you buy"
If you are a seller then please have a look at the Online Shopping Rights website that has a
Selling Online page. This includes a variety of different articles about keeping safe when selling online.
We don't want to scare you, but the internet (like everything else in this world) has a bad element associated with it. We do not accept any responsibility for any loss, damage or anything else, as all we do is help you to advertise your second hand cameras and used camera equipment and nothing more, but so long as you abide by certain rules and make sure you have read up on how to keep safe buying and selling online (on any website) then it should be very rare that you will have any problems.
Finally - there is lots more information that will help you when buying and selling online which can be found on google.
